Twyfelfontein is well known for its ancient rock carvings. They’re some of the best-preserved etchings in all of Africa and they’re dated to about 5,000 years old.

The lodge we stayed at didn’t have anything plant based and gluten-free or breakfast, but they did have some toppings for yogurt. I added some toasted pumpkin seeds, raisins, dried banana, and walnuts to a bowl, poured in some non-dairy milk, grabbed a nectarine from the car, and called it breakfast!
After our elephant adventure, it was time to move on to Okaukuejo Resort in Etosha National Park for a safari and some more animal sightings.

Little carrots like this were common in grocery stores. I was always sure to buy some when I saw them because they made for a super easy (and tiny) snack.
I’ve never eaten so many rice cakes in my life. If you have to eat gluten-free, these are handy when traveling because they might be the closest thing to gluten-free bread you can find in some areas.
