Why did you decide to eat more plants?

I decided to eat more plants for my health. After watching Forks Over Knives in 2017, my curiosity was peaked. I did some research, found CFDG, and became a member.

Three years later, I saw they were hiring and I applied. The rest is history. 🙂

How has eating more plants helped you?

Eating plants makes me feel strong and capable of taking charge of my own health.

How has our open-minded, LGBTQIA+ friendly community impacted your life?

I love surrounding myself with open, loving, non-judgmental people, which isn’t easy to do on the internet. The Facebook group and Team Dirty are all that and more.

As a cisgender bi woman married to a cis-het man, I have the privilege of being straight passing, so I don’t have to “come out” to people if I don’t feel comfortable doing so. But, I’ve never even considered hiding who I am from this community and my co-workers. I know they accept me without question. Everyone should have this kind of support.

What is the most important thing you’d like to share with the Clean Food Dirty Girl community?

You never know how you impact other people. Love and acceptance beget love and acceptance.

Brené Brown says it best: “Empathy is not finite, and compassion is not a pizza with eight slices. When you practice empathy and compassion with someone, there’s not less of these qualities to go around. There’s more. Love is the last thing we need to ration in this world.”

What do you love about yourself?

I love my loyalty and fierce protectiveness for those I care about.
