Why did you decide to eat more plants?
I wanted to return to a healthy lifestyle after abusing my body for too long with garbage. I’ve been curious for a number of years but never really dove in.
How has eating more plants helped you?
I have dropped some weight and do feel more energetic when I actually stick to my plant intentions. I notice a big difference in my body and my mind when I have been off the wagon. My partner (23 years my senior) still believes in getting her protein from meat and dairy because that’s how she was raised and taught. Finding that balance has helped both of us incorporate more plants into our diet.
How has our open-minded, LGBTQIA+ friendly community impacted your life?
There’s so much hate out there that it’s easy to become disconnected, stay in your own safety bubble, or swim in the same small pond of people. I’m not sure the community has had an impact on my life, but I do enjoy it when I see people being their authentic selves. I think it helps to bring courage into the lives of people that might not have it.
What is the most important thing you’d like to share with the Clean Food Dirty Girl community?
Practice doesn’t make perfect. Practice makes progress. None of us in this group are perfect, but we are progressing. That, and you CAN teach an “old dog” new tricks!
What do you love about yourself?
I have a wicked sense of humor, the vocabulary of a drunken sailor, and a heart of gold. I glow with the flow 🙂
