Normalize messy

Ready for some real talk?

What people see on social media:
A cute photo of me in my kitchen about to zest a lemon. It’s cheery, it’s upbeat, it’s a good angle for my face.

What people don’t see on social media:
Me, mid-meltdown, feeling too overwhelmed, sad, and worried to face the day.

The next time you feel so overwhelmed that it seems the only reasonable course of action is to assume the fetal position and plant your face into the couch, look at this picture and remind yourself that you, my friend, are not alone.

Adulting is hard, and sometimes we need a minute to lose our shit.

Take that minute. Take 20. Take 60.
We can’t possibly hold it together 100% of the time.
Not with so much heartbreak in the world.
Not with all the weight each of us carries on our shoulders.
Not with the present-day uncertainty of it all.

Couches are meant to hold us, there are no rules on when or how.
Consider this your pass to feel the feels, let it all go, and melt into your humanness.

Social media might have us believe that we’re the *only* ones losing our shit. But that’s not true. Behind every lovely curated post, there are 50 messy moments that will never be posted.

Here’s to normalizing messy.

Go, the couch is waiting for you.

And if you’d like, post in our Facebook group and share your humanness—messy kitchen, unwashed hair, half-batched meal plan, whatever! Use the hashtag #Humanness so I can hold space with you from afar. Don’t feel like posting a pic? No pressure, take a screenshot of the graphic below and share that instead.
