Motivation is overrated
I love it when people decide to do something and then they go and do it.
They don’t talk about it, they just get up every day and take steps towards the goal. It might be a baby step, a huge step, a sleepy step, a fed-up step, a half-assed step, a wobbly step, an unsure step, a confident step, a scared step, a worried step — but it’s a step.
Some people think you need motivation to take action.
But what happens when you’re not motivated?
Does the dream die because you waited for motivation to arrive and it was a no-show?
I don’t know about you, but of all the things I’ve accomplished in my life, motivation has not been the driving force. My driving force has been to keep moving forward in the absence of motivation.
Motivation is overrated because it’s short-lived and infrequent.
If we can take action when we don’t feel like it, that is what gets us to our goals. I mean, we might need a nap first, but then we take action. And when we take action and start producing results, like magic, we will be motivated to keep going.
Don’t wait for motivation to magically appear. Create motivation by not needing it to move forward.
When you see people slaying life and accomplishing their goals, it’s not because they have some secret sauce they’re sipping on, they just didn’t stop when their dream got hard. When motivation took a vacation, they said screw it and kept going. That’s it.
If you can master moving forward when you don’t feel motivated to do so, your goal is as good as done.
Today over on the blog, I’m talking about weight loss and whether or not eating a plant based diet can help. My answers might surprise you. We’re also giving you an excellent Hot and Sour Soup recipe. Meet me over here and let's do it.
