Fun fact: If you keep showing up and doing your best, that’s good enough.
Read it again.
Your best today might be a 3, maybe your best yesterday was a 7.
Both are awesome.
There's a natural ebb and flow to life.
Two steps forward, one step back.
You make progress and then hold steady.
You might reverse a little before you take four huge strides in the direction you want to go.
Progress is not linear. It is very much up and down, sideways, backward, zigzaggy, circles, and swirly.
But if we keep showing up and doing our best in each moment, that’s what moves us along because what we focus on will improve with time. And it doesn’t have to be someone else’s best or what you think your best should be. It gets to be YOUR best, whatever that is right now. That’s perfectly, beautifully enough.
Maybe your best is getting out of bed.
Maybe it’s going for a 15-minute walk.
Maybe it’s eating one plant based meal a day week.
Maybe it’s adding more veggies to your dinner.
Maybe it’s meditating for 2 minutes and 37 seconds.
Maybe it’s choosing yoga over TV.
Maybe it’s watching TV instead of drinking.
There are so many opportunities each day to do your best. Look for those opportunities and see what unfolds.
Nothing halts progress like waiting for perfection. Meet yourself where you are—it's the only place to start. And then do your best. Wash, rinse, repeat, and watch what happens. Slowly, day by day, you will build confidence as your best gets better.
What is one thing you can do today to help yourself, and what does your best look like today? Do that. Just that. And then ask yourself the same question tomorrow.
Put this song on and soak it up as you ponder the question.
Wishing you a happy weekend, may you do your best.
