Give yourself two minutes
Hello you lovely human,
Do yourself a favor and take a moment to pause before you rush off to the next thing. This won’t take long.
Take a few deep breaths.
Notice your body.
Focus on just what you see in front of you.
Be here in the moment for a moment.
The hustle and bustle of your life, it can wait. The mile-long To-Do list. The people waiting on you for this and that. The self-imposed deadlines. All the loose ends begging to be tied up.
The grocery store.
The gas station.
The carwash.
The DMV.
The post office.
The 15 phone calls needed to be made.
The cooking.
The cleaning.
The laundry.
The job.
The family.
The gym.
The screens. The endless screens.
The appointments.
The meetings.
The talks.
The checking in.
The books you’ve yet to read. So many books.
The notifications.
The pets.
The kids.
The running toilet.
The flickering lightbulb.
The trip that needs to be planned.
The pottery class you want to take.
The yoga. The stretching. The meditation.
Learning when to let go and when to hold on.
When to accept and when to demand better.
Admitting that you, too, are culpable and have caused hurt.
Forgiving others. Forgiving yourself.
Allowing yourself to fall apart. Putting yourself back together.
Shaving your armpits.
Flossing your teeth.
Eating some fruit.
Drinking the water.
Paying the bills.
Accepting that we all eventually die.
It’s a lot.
And it will all be there, waiting for you after you take a few minutes for yourself, to just be.
Release your shoulders. Soften your tummy. Relax your jaw. Close your eyes.
Take a deep breath in…
And let it out, slowly.
Stay in the moment.
It’s safe here.
You are beautifully human, which means you have zero chance of being perfect.
Delight in your messiness and extend yourself some grace.
There might not be time for everything right now, but there is always time for the things that matter most. When you slow down and pause, you can untangle the things that are most important right now.
Breathe in.
Breathe out.
And continue with your day.
Take these little pauses often and notice how much easier things feel. Instead of 100 things to do, you’ll have just one—whatever’s in front of you.
Before you go, give yourself a high five for everything you’ve gotten through and everything you’ve done. Look how far you’ve come. You are a badass, a powerful force. Own your badassery and have a beautiful weekend.
