It was 7:30pm and I had a choice to make
Sometimes when we choose to say yes to one thing, it means saying no to something else.
The other night I experienced the perfect example of this.
It was 7:30pm, and I really wanted to chill and watch a movie before bed, but I hadn’t done my daily French lesson yet. I could have done both, but going to bed early is one of my priorities, so I only had time for one. I could:
- Watch a movie and not do my French lessons.
- Do my French lessons and not watch a movie.
Because learning French is another priority of mine, I chose to do my lesson and save the movie for another evening. I was kind of bummed, but knowing my priorities made my choice clear.
We might not have time for everything, but we can always make time for what’s most important to us.
If something is important to you, whether it’s exercising, batch cooking plants, learning a new skill, spending time with someone, or being able to do a headstand, you have to prioritize it. Which means saying no to or delaying other things.
Time is a finite resource. Choose what you do with it in whatever way you will look back and think, “I’m so glad I did that.”
