If you’re head first in a bag of potato chips, read this

So you’re at the starting line with whole-food plant-based eating.

Maybe eating this way is brand new to you.
Maybe you’ve eaten this way before, but you took a hard left a few miles back, and you’ve been elbow-deep in potato chips and boxed mac and cheese ever since.

Either way, we’ve all been there. I know I have.

First things first: no matter where you’re at or how you got there, you’re right where you’re supposed to be. How do I know? Because it’s where you are.

I don’t know if you’re beating yourself up, but if you are, it’s not helping your path toward luscious health. It does the opposite. Beating yourself up makes it harder than it has to be, keeping your progress at a snail’s pace, while making you feel like a frightened feral cat.

How do you stop beating yourself up for your food choices?

By deciding you’re not going to do that anymore. You can literally choose to stop being mean to yourself. And then stop being mean to yourself. If you catch yourself doing it without thinking, choose to stop immediately. These actions are choices we make. Read it again. 🎤

After you accept where you are on your path and put down the self-critical-thought daggers, it’s time to put some food in your beautiful mouth.

Think about the next thing you put in your mouth, and make it nourishing

Pro tip: Don’t think about forever. Here are some ideas:

Don’t overthink it. Don’t make it bigger than it is. Don’t tell yourself bullshit stories like it’s too hard or you can’t because [insert excuse here]. The next time you get hungry, just eat some plants that haven’t been fucked with too much.
And repeat. That’s all it is

Everything else is drama distracting you from eating those delicious blueberries.

Compassion and plants

This combo will change the trajectory of your life, even if you feel like you’re at the starting line. Don’t exempt yourself from the compassion you extend to others. You deserve it, too.
